Maize head smut has increasingly affected maize production in recent years. This paper introduced the disease cycle. The prevention and control of maize head smut were discussed from the varieties, reducing early infection sources, reasonable cultivation and management, master of sowing date, chemical control and other methods. It pointed out that the resistant varieties were the main factor of all methods.
